IT staffing
How to brief a technical staffing requirement
The details that separate a useful staffing enquiry from a job title on its own.
· 1 min read · Neturon

A job title is not a brief. The useful facts are the work the person will do, the skills that are essential rather than familiar, the engagement type, the location, how long you need them, and when you would like them to start.
What a good brief includes
- The outcome: what will be delivered or kept running.
- Essential skills, kept separate from nice-to-have ones.
- Engagement type: contract, fixed-term, permanent or a project team.
- Location and working pattern: on site, hybrid or remote.
- Duration, start date and any security or right-to-work checks needed.
For candidates as well as employers
The same form can be used if you are hiring for your own team or if you are a specialist looking for a role. Neturon does not publish a list of open roles or available people on this website. An enquiry is a conversation, not a confirmation that someone is free.
If you are unsure
If you are not sure whether you need a contractor, a permanent hire, or a small project team, say so. That is a reasonable starting point.
